Let’s Eat! Brunch for the Whole Family at Mott St in Bucktown, Chicago

Last Sunday, Luke and I were invited to Mott St. (a restaurant in Bucktown) for a Moms and Kids brunch. I gladly accepted as 1) brunch is one of my favorite meals; 2) I’ve been wanting to eat at Mott St. for some time; 3) it was a great way for me and Luke to spend time with each other before the arrivals of the twins; 4) it gave Charlie some much needed alone time; and last but not least 5) I wanted Luke to try different foods on the restaurant’s kids menu.

The Moms and Kids brunch also included making a craft project as a gift for dads. Luke made a fan for Charlie to gift him on Father’s Day.  So not only did Luke get to enjoy his brunch, he got to make something special for Charlie while doing so. Which was good for me since I got to also eat all the good food.

Mott St. is located in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago and the food has mainly dishes with Asian flavors. I really didn’t know what to expect before we had brunch here on Sunday but I can say that I was blown away by all the flavor of the food.

I know I wanted Luke to experience and taste the kids menu but I was able to try other items on the menu that were phenomenal to me and my pregnancy cravings. To me, it was my comfort food from the dumplings to the bowl of congee. Although a burger is not really an Asian dish, I have to admit the flavors on the Mott Burger worked so well together with the pickled jalepenos, hoisin aioli and miso butter. All of that melted in my mouth. I’m still dreaming about it right now.

To me, it’s pretty rare to have a restaurant in Chicago serving such flavorful food but also having a unique kids menu (that also incorporates the flavors from the rest of the menu) but I think we found one – Mott St.  The restaurant is kid-friendly with one of the coolest kids menus I’ve seen.

I’ve been talking about this brunch to Charlie since Sunday and I think we are going to take him here for Father’s Day so he could enjoy all the goodness with us and Luke and try another dish on the kids menu.

MottSt2This bowl of congee has the same flavors my mom’s. It’s comforting and I think I licked the bowl clean.

The dumplings were some of my favorite dishes on Sunday morning. I think I could have eaten three orders of it because it was what I needed or maybe the twins needed it. Talk about comfort food.

The Mott Burger is one of the best burgers in town!!

I was told to try the Bowl of Awesome which consisted of Chlorophyll, Yogurt, Raw Honey, Bee Pollen, Hemp Seeds, Sprouted Buckwheat, Amaranth. A great bowl to have alone or to cleanse the pallet.

We also had the edamame toast and berry french toast, which were equally delicious. I forgot to take pictures of them because I think I devoured them before picking up my camera.
