Let’s Read! The Paris Journal

ParisJournal4

I’m a self-professed Francophile. I’m a sucker for anything French, especially if it’s Paris. When I first learned about the book, The Paris Journal, written by Nichole Robertson and her husband, Evan Robertson, I knew I had to get it. Nichole is also the author/photographer to the book, Paris in Color, which I love!! So I knew I would love The Paris Journal, without before getting it.

I looked through the pictures before reading the book and to me, they were just really pretty pictures of Paris. But when I read the “chapters” or time periods in the book, I would then turn the pages to the pictures and study them. Somehow the pictures were more than just pretty, they were awesome! They made me feel as if I was there…I know I would notice those same details (but forget to take a picture). It was as if the pictures were a snapshot of a memory/experience I had or would have in Paris. To that, I think the authors did a magnifique job! When I finished the book, I just hugged it. It felt that good. Really!

This book isn’t a guide book, it’s more of a diary of a solo traveler’s day in Paris. Yep, one day in Paris (what would you do?). When I was reading it, I thought to myself, “this person is me!” If I was traveling to Paris alone, I would be having the same thoughts and notice the same details. I’ve been to Paris four times and each time, I discover something new. And just like this book, I have discovered so many new places and details.

One of my favorite lines in the book is “My heart belongs to Paris.” After being there multiple times and reading this book, I can honestly say that that’s where my heart is (well, with my husband and baby too).

If you get this book, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
