It’s interesting to see how my style has changed over the years and it usually comes with life changes. I used to love wearing heels and pumps because they made me look taller. But they were so uncomfortable. But those were days when I had to wear suits to work or go out dancing. The heels were replaced with flats or ballerina flats after I was able to dress business casual at work. While I still wear flats at work (well, when I used to work in the office), my go to shoes at the moment are white sneakers.
I’m calling white sneakers them a mom style for me. Not only do white sneakers go with almost everything I wear, they are also great for chasing the twins around. Most importantly, they are comfortable and easy to wear. Another reason why white sneakers are a wardrobe essential for me – they are great for traveling (if we ever get to travel again). They are perfect for all the walking we do on our trips.
I own enough white sneakers to know which ones work well for my feet.

Recently, Rothy’s came out with their lace up sneakers, and I knew I had to try them out! I was drawn to the bright white lace up sneakers but think I could have them in every color. Just a little background on Rothy’s – they are a sustainable fashion brand making shoes (and now handbags) from recycled plastic bottles via a threading technique and repurposed into shoes. The soles of the shoes are made with with eco-friendly rubber,. Rothy’s is known for their flats (that I have yet to try) but I think the lace up sneakers fit more into my lifestyle at the moment.

My Review of of the Rothy’s Lace Up Sneakers
Style
First of all, the style of the Rothy’s lace up sneakers is a cross between an athletic shoe and bowling style-shoes. I love the contoured layering on top and actually have gotten a lot of compliments when wearing the shoes. The sneakers do not feel or look bulky. I love that the sneakers came perfectly laced up for me (one less thing to think about). Make sure you tie your laces tight or securely as they did tend to get loose on me for the times that I didn’t tie them tight enough.
Fit
I normally wear a size 8 in shoes and the size 8 in the Rothy’s lace up sneakers fit my feet perfectly, even with thin socks. I’ve heard that Rothy’s flats run small and people have had to size up but this is not the case for the sneakers. I
Comfort
I didn’t need to break the Rothy’s sneakers in. The sneakers are easy to put on, especially with the terry-lined tongue, which is easy to pull up (and stays up). The insoles are plush and cushy as the website suggests. The shoes hugged my feet but it didn’t feel tight.
I did wear the sneakers on our recent trip to Mackinac Island and walked further and longer than I do at home. I felt a slight discomfort after awhile because my feet did swell up from all the walking. The discomfort did not result in any blisters or hurt my feet the next time I put on the shoes.

Is it Worth the Price?
The Lace Up sneakers are $165 which seems to be on the high end. But based on the facts that I didn’t need to break them in, the comfort, made of recycled plastic and eco friendly, and they are machine washable, I think they are worth it if I’m able to help the planet!
