The Awesomeness of Rockets of Awesome

If you have a preschooler, know of a preschooler or remember being a preschooler yourself, I think you can guess some of their favorite words. I would tell you the word Luke likes to use all the time but I think you already know what it is. There’s even an emoji for it. But I’ll spare you. As hard as I try to stop him from saying it, he won’t stop. So we’ve compromised, he can only say it at home and not in public. It’s been working with a few slip ups here and there.

When Rockets of Awesome sent us a box of clothes for Luke, especially with the shirt that says “We Are Awesome,” Luke’s favorite word changed to “AWESOME”. Thank goodness because I like that word too and it’s appropriate to say anywhere. He’s very proud to wear the shirt around and gets a kick out of it when people tell him what his shirt says. He wore the shirt on our recent Art Institute adventure and loved the reaction from people telling him how awesome it was.  When I asked him what he thought the word “awesome” meant, his face immediately lit up. I could see the excitement in his eyes as he was ready to say it.. He told me “It’s cool, it’s fun! I’m awesome!” And that friends, is how I was able to change his favorite word to AWESOME!

Just in case you’re wondering about Rockets of Awesome, it’s a new, free shipping service for kids clothes. I normally do most of Luke’s clothes shopping online for convenience but found Rockets of Awesome to be a great alternative (it’s still online – but I don’t have to scroll through all the items).  Just sign up for the service and take a simple quiz about your child’s preferences. Then four times a year, Rockets of Awesome  will send you a personalized box of 8 – 12 items (ranging from $12 – $36 per item). You only pay for what you want and return what you don’t. Shipping is free both ways (a return shipping label is included).

Here’s what we got in our box: 4 long sleeve shirts (perfect for the season), a hoodie, two pairs of pants, and a pair of socks. I like the feel of the cotton shirts and the pants are just Luke’s style (no zippers or buttons). I know Luke also loves wearing shirts with superheroes on them. But I try to limit that. So when we opened the box, I was happy to see the colorful shirts and pants. I ordered a size 5 for him and the clothes are slightly big on him now but I think he will grow into them.

The box is reusable too! The interior has some fun graphics so Luke can color on the box if he wants. But right now, we just look at all the fun characters and talk about them. Who doesn’t love a dragon eating ice cream?

Thank you Rockets of Awesome for providing the box for Luke. All pictures and opinions are my own.
