My obsession for Chanel has now moved beyond handbags. Now it’s the iconic Chanel tweed piece, whether it’s the jacket, dress, or skirt. I am obsessed! And I just love how Chanel is updating the tweed, as seen on its runway shows because it can be worn so many ways from formal business to casual. I think as I am growing older, I’ve come to realize that I want to invest in classic pieces of clothing that can last me more than a season. Although I cannot afford the a tweed piece from Chanel at the moment, I have been purchasing tweed dresses and jackets at more affordable retailers and adding my own little touch of Chanel to them, such as a brooch or pearl necklace. I know the quality of these tweed jackets and jackets may not measure up to Chanel standards but they do make me feel like like a million bucks, or in this case look like I spent thousands of dollars on the tweed piece.
I purchased the tweed shift dress from AnnTaylor this past winter (sorry, it’s sold out now). I wanted to post about this dress sooner but I have bad time management skills. Anyway, I added a Chanel brooch with it. Which my husband says wearing a Chanel brooch makes everything “instantly Chanel”. I think it’s his way of saying I don’t need anymore Chanel stuff. Haha. I’ve worn this dress to work numerous times this winter and spring and I love it. It’s very comfortable and the combination of the colors – blue, pink, grey and a tint of shimmer, make the dress look more expensive that it actually was.
Of course, when I get into something, I really get into it. I’ve been eyeing these other tweed pieces to add to my wardrobe and rounded them up below. I’ve noticed that J.Crew, AnnTaylor, and Banana Republic have had a good selection lately, especially during the spring.
More tweed…what I love at the moment.
