I always thought turning 40 meant I had to tone down how I dress…you know lots of neutrals or blacks. And if I dared to wear something bright and colorful, it would only mean that I’m trying too hard to look young to the point I’m looking tacky.
Well, it’s 2016 and I’m 40…and I’m wearing a hot pink dress. And I LOVE IT!
I think it represents my style and my personality at the moment. I love wearing colorful outfits lately because I think we all need color in our lives. Colors bring hope and happiness. I can honestly say I am wearing this dress with confidence.
My office dress code is not ultra conservative but it’s not bright and colorful either. So sometimes it’s hard to find a good balance because I’ve been loving bright and colorful pieces lately but I’m afraid that what I wear can be too much. I decided to add accessories to the dress when I wore it to the office. I added a black bow belt and a pearl necklace, which ended up not screaming bright pink dress but more like office-worthy outfit with a punch of color.

About the location: This super fun purple and pink wall is located in West Town/Ukrainian Village and the home of Pup Stars, a doggie daycare located at 635 N. Western. I’ve been eyeing this location since the summer time when we happened to drive past it. And now I finally got to take a picture here with the perfect dress!
Love, love, love this dress on you, and the location is perfect! I think for me, turning 40 gave me the confidence to just say “F it!” and I wear what I WANT to wear, more than I did in my 20’s and 30’s! I’m sure some of my choices aren’t necessarily “age appropriate”, but what does that even mean!?! I love the little bow belt! And tights with those boogies 👌🏻 (omg, dying!
