Let’s Dress Up! eShakti’s Red Plaid Dress

Since the holidays are coming up, I’ve been mad for plaid!!

When eShakti asked me to do a product review, I was a bit hesitant since I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into.  I read some online reviews that were mostly mixed. But when I saw this red plaid dress, I couldn’t resist. (Just so you know, eShakti is an online women’s apparel company, based in India, offering sizes 0 – 36W & custom clothing). I picked a dress that would be great to holiday soirees and office appropriate.

For my outfit, I wore this dress with my vintage Ann Taylor leather jacket (circa 1999) and my new Chanel GST tote. I think I grew a bit in the past 15 years as the leather jacket is tighter than I remember. But I still love the look of leather on plaid and glad I was able to still wear my leather jacket, especially for these pictures.

The location I chose to take pictures is off of Wacker Drive, near the RR Donnelly Building or what is now the United Building. I think we will be returning here to take more pictures as I love the light and the architecture here.

Review of eShakti dress

Overall, I am very pleased with the dress. The material is thick and heavy, which is good for the cold weather. The seams were sewn on perfectly. The length was right on the mark, around knee length.

My dress arrived a week after I ordered it, which was pretty quick compared to what some of the other reviewers had mentioned.

I found the zipper to be hard to pull up, especially where there was more fabric around the waist. And…speaking of the waist, I thought it was a bit too tight. I’m not sure I can sit down for a long period of time with this dress. I also wished the black triangle ponte in the front of the dress was plaid. It just seemed weird to have a it placed there.

For reference, I ordered a size 10, customized with cap sleeves and knee length. Even in a size 10, whcih is one size larger than what I normally wear, this dress was very fitted.
